CHANDIGARH – Haryana Health Minister Ms. Arti Singh Rao announced during the ongoing Vidhan Sabha budget session that the state is aggressively strengthening healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and the Chirayu Haryana Scheme.
As of February 20, 2026, the state has achieved a significant milestone with 1,38,47,905 active Ayushman cards, facilitating 14,28,872 treatments since November 2022. To ensure comprehensive coverage, the government has made 2,694 treatment packages available, spanning critical surgical procedures, day-care treatments, medicines, and diagnostics, with a total reimbursement of Rs. 2,010.33 crore already paid to empanelled hospitals. A key feature of the state’s implementation is the “unspecified” category provision, which ensures that even treatments not explicitly listed in the standard packages are processed and covered at authorized hospitals.
About the Ayushman Bharat Scheme
The Ayushman Bharat scheme is the world’s largest government-funded healthcare program, providing an annual cover of Rs. 5 lakh per family for secondary and tertiary care. It offers cashless and paperless access to services, covering all pre-existing conditions from day one, along with expenses for three days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days of post-hospitalization, including diagnostics and medicines. In Haryana, the integration of the Chirayu Haryana initiative has further expanded these benefits to a broader segment of the population, ensuring that financial constraints do not act as a barrier to quality medical care for over 1.38 crore residents.
